The Balanced Scorecard is a management system. The name comes from the idea of looking at the strategic measures in addition to traditional financial ones. It illustrates the connection between Performance Indicators, such as:

• Customer perspective- "How do customers see us?"
• Internal perspective- “What things are important to our customers, which will, in turn, impact our financial standing?”
• Innovation and Learning perspective- “Can we continue to improve and create value?”
• Financial perspective- “How do we look to shareholders?”
